Travel during pregnancy

Depending on how far along you are in your pregnancy, different rules apply for flying with Braathens:

Pregnant with one child

  • Pregnant travelers are allowed to fly until 4 weeks before the expected due date. The journey must be completed before starting the fourth week before the expected delivery date.
  • Between 4 and 2 weeks before your due date, you may only fly on flights of less than 4 hours and you'll need to complete a medical certificate to be approved by Braathens.
  • For safety reasons, from 2 weeks before your due date, you're not permitted to fly with us.

Pregnant with twins, triplets or more

  • You can travel without a medical certificate up to twelve weeks before your expected due date.
  • Between 12 and 8 weeks before your due date, you may only fly on flights of less than 4 hours. You'll need to complete a medical certificate to be approved by Braathens.
  • For safety reasons, from 8 weeks before your due date, you're not permitted to fly with us.

Newborn Babies

Healthy newborn babies need to be at least 48 hours of age before they are allowed to travel. Prematurely born babies require authorization to travel by medical authorities.

Medical Information Form (MEDIF)

You can download the MEDIF form here.

Once your physician has completed and signed the form, please submit it to kscharter@flygbra.se.

Please note that the approval process may take up to seven (7) days.
A MEDIF form may be required if you:

  • Are in the later stages of pregnancy
  • Require medical oxygen or other medical equipment on board
  • Are traveling for the purpose of receiving medical treatment
  • Have an unstable medical condition
  • Have recently been ill, injured, hospitalized, or undergone surgery

If you are required to travel with a MEDIF form, we recommend keeping a copy in your hand luggage. The completed form must be submitted and approved by Braathens prior to departure. Processing and approval may take up to seven (7) days.
You will receive an email confirmation once your MEDIF form has been approved and added to your booking.
